A kulhad is a biodegradable, disposable clay cup used in India by food vendors to serve hot beverages like chai and some desserts like lassi, yogurt, kheer or kesar milk. The cups have been excavated from the Indus Valley from as far back as the end of the Stone Age, 5,000 years ago.

How to Use Kulhad Cups

1. Dry Completely: After soaking, allow the cups to air-dry completely before using.
2. Pour Hot Beverages: Use them for hot chai, coffee or lassi. The porous clay will add a unique, earthly aroma to the tea.
3. Avoid Sudden Temperature Changes: Avoid placing cold cups directly onto a hot stove to prevent cracking.

Note: Do Not Use Soap: Soap can be absorbed by the porous clay, leaving a soapy flavor in future tea. If using kulhad cups for serving, it is generally recommended to treat them as single-use due to sanitization concerns.
